If you’re here you may have noticed that there is a HUGE time gap between this blog post and the last one published. Over the last several years I have taken a break from blogging on this site to grow and focus in other areas.
So what have I been up to? Well for starters I have grown in my career overseeing enterprise digital/web marketing and I’ve still been blogging (as a ghost writer in some cases) for other organizations and sites. I have started a YouTube channel, grown on TikTok, launched two podcasts, volunteered on too many committees and spent a lot of time as a foster parent. A lot, I know; I ‘m an enneagram 3.
I started this blog with a very marketing professional focus and while I do love all things marketing – especially web, social and seo – I think I am going to pivot and open up more topics on this blog.
I used to be so concerned with my online image and trying to make sure everything I posted was polished and professional and ready to be seen by a potential employer. This was a bit taxing and honestly I’m just not here for it anymore.
I have grown a lot professionally and am very confident in my professional marketing and seo skills. I crush it at work and don’t feel like I need to “prove” that in every corner of the internet. I also don’t think it is healthy or realistic to be professionally “on” at all times. Like can we live?
If there is one thing I have realized over the course of the last few unprecedented years it’s that I want to stop limiting myself based on the opinions of other people. So that’s what I’m doing. I will be posting more creative things and taking more risks. I will be showing myself more and not just the “professional” version… I mean that’s what work and conference calls are for and at this point I’m happy to leave that version of me there.
Overall as far as this blog goes, I think I am going to be posting more beauty related content (makeup, hair, nails, skin care, etc.), self care, lifestyle and possibly some spirituality and social issues – perhaps whatever the mood inspires. Also, I will be writing like I talk (outside of work), so expect this informal language to continue. Stick around because there is definitely more to come. 🙂
Welcome back to the blogosphere! And it seems like you have plans in place, so I’m wishing you all the best on this return to the journey. Have fun, Erin!
